BEING COLORFUL
I have always found hiding behind characters fascinating. I am inspired by my various moods and events that tend to influence in me. I hope to show the importance of equality by using face make up to express that our beliefs and skin color do not matter.
As by dressing up as a bird, I try to convey the feeling of freedom as it takes flight through life. Or a cat, asserting its independence and self-sufficiency .Also, submerging myself in a “Façade” of flowers and insects as if becoming a part of that environment.
In “Vegetables” I aimed at reasserting the truth behind “ We are what we eat”, a phrase quoted by many health professionals, by incorporating real vegetables as part of this series, born out of an innate desire to become conscious of healthy nutrition. Another adventure was overlaping images as in “Smoke New York” in which an emblematic street in a city I called home for fourteen years became the focus of the piece.
